Remembering Everyday Miracles #2 Your Brain & Your Mind

It is so easy to forget, but the greatest treasures of our time (if not any time before us even) are not the immense riches of this world but the intrinsic simple golden tokens already within us.  We all hold the key to greatness, and it is so easy to forget about the amazing power we already possess within us.  Let’s take a look at one of the greatest instruments in our grasp that most likely is forgotten about since it is always at work and can easily be taken for granted.

What an Amazing Machine
When you think about it, the brain is the most amazing machine on the planet, and we have access to it at any and every moment of our life.  Some might say well “mine is defective” or “mine isn’t as good as that person.”  But this is not about comparing apples to oranges since we all are different (and have different talents and abilities); we all have the chance to use our brains the best to our abilities.  Albert Einstein said “It’s not that I’m so smart; it’s just that I stay with problems longer.” No matter what the subject is in front of us, we all have the capacity to learn it. How persistent are you with your subject and your rate of sticking with a problem to learn it?  For some people some subjects might come easy to them, to others not as quickly, but if you stick with it long enough you will understand and master it over time.  So how can you remember to not give up in your endeavors; that it is less about being smart and more about having endurance?

Where is the Off Switch on This Thing?
The marvelous thing about the brain is it never turns off.  It is always working helping us even when we are resting.  Yes certain functions might turn off, but the mind is always functioning. Even when the body is at rest and we are sleeping, the brain is still working as you are dreaming working through your fears, doubts, aspirations and problems.  So why not put it to use?  The next time you have a problem instead of forcing and sticking to that problem until you drive yourself crazy; step away from it but ask your brain to find the solution.  There have been studies that have said when we give a command to our brain, even when we are not thinking about it, it still is working on the problem we asked-in the background.  Take a look at your dreaming: have you ever had a problem you were working on before bed intently and when you woke up you had the answer.  They say when we sleep all the inconsequential thoughts are like noisy waves in the ocean of our brain.  During sleep the mind will silence those other waves that you aren’t wanting to focus on to help you see the solution better in your mind. So bE purposeful in asking for your answers, when you go to sleep or when you step away from a problem, give a command to your brain “I would like to have this figured out by such and such a time.”  You might be finding more answers and pulling out less hair instead of stressing yourself out racking your brain for the answer.

Imagination… Be a Kid Again
The mind lives in another realm. The brain is the physical aspect but our mind and our thoughts bring imagination to reality.  To have what we want we have to look beyond what is really happening in the physical realm.  It may sound simple in words, but we have the power to bring our dreams into our lives.  Use your imagination and see more than just the PHYSICAL situations you are stuck in.  When you can see beyond the physical place you have found yourself in life, job, friends, family, hobbies, ambitions, etc. you can start bringing those dreams into reality.  Most don’t have what they want because they see what the world has given them and accept it as reality.  The only reality is the one you choose to see. So if you don’t like your reality, start telling a different story and seeing a different picture in your mind of what you imagine your life to be.  The more vividly you can see the picture of what you want the more real it will become in your life.  I’m not telling you that you need to live in a fantasy world of unicorns, but start seeing the world differently…  Our consciousness creates the world around us. You are a creator of worlds and universes, put your mind to work and start creating instead of reverberating what is already here.  You are not here to regurgitate what others have spewed out, but to create your own amazing realities.  Your mind is bigger than anything physical upon this earth, start thinking that way.

Change is a Constant, Use it
One reason I believe people don’t realize the full potential of their mind- is that they are afraid to make commitments.  Meaning if I say what I want out loud, write a goal down, tell someone else my dreams I will be a failure if I don’t reach it.  We think that what we say or write down is set in stone and if we mess up we will become failures.  The reality of the matter is the best laid out plans will need to be augmented and changed as it moves forward.  Nothing will ever go perfectly as planned, but what will make it perfect is the flexibility to know when you need to veer off course for a bit, change course altogether, or stop since it’s not working and set your sights on something else.  In life it is good to be flexible.  Don’t give up right away, but look at your goal and consider all the possibilities first before deciding it isn’t for you.  As stated earlier with Einstein and his persistence, he reached a goal because of fortitude and consistency to keep working at it and not give in.  The best in the world at whatever their craft is weren’t naturally transposed to that greatness; they had to put in hours upon hours and years upon years of work.  So find love in the task and keep working towards what you want. If it is worth it to you, it will not be a task and in the end you will find a way.  And if you need to change things it won’t be the end of the world, it might be the needed tune up to help you get through a task more efficiently.

Now I can hear some saying “Ok, so I have a brain and mind, and I have now been reminded of them what is that going to do for me?”  The easiest answer is: the more we value our amazing mind the more we can utilize it’s awesome potential.  By having an attitude of growth and persistency, you can achieve and overcome any so called “unovercomable” situation.  Our brain is the most amazing machine in the world and you have complete access to it 24/7. It’s compact so you can take it anywhere with you, and when you practice using it… the stronger it gets.  Find joy in the everyday miracles and remember how blessed you are today knowing that you have the most amazing machine on the planet to bring your imagination and dreams to reality.  It won’t do you wrong if you use it.  Have an amazing week!
